Certificate III in Wood Machining FPI30805

The Certificate III in Wood Machining (FPI30805) is offered by Workspace Training as a workplace-based training program for people who work in a wood machining environment and wish to undertake the formal trade qualification. Participants must be working under the direct supervision of an A Grade wood machinist, and the supervisor must be available to assist with on-the-job training.

Set out below is a sample qualification, showing the 9 core units (all compulsory) plus 13 elective units chosen from the Forest Products Industry Training Package (FPI05). Other electives are also available under the packaging rules for this qualification, and may be substituted for some of the electives shown, following negotiation with Workspace Training. For more information, please follow the links below.

Assessment tasks will involve extensive practical demonstrations, written assignments and third party reports from the participant’s supervisor. Participants who can demonstrate existing skills to the level required will receive ‘recognition of prior learning’ (RPL) for those units.

Government funding is available for eligible participants undertaking an apprenticeship, and employers may also be eligible for an additional incentive payment. The duration of the program under an apprenticeship arrangement is 3 years.
