RPL for the Furnishing Industry

The interactive CD ‘Making RPL Part of the Furniture’ was developed by Workspace Training for ForestWorks, the Industry Training Advisory Body (ITAB) for the Furnishing Industry. The project was funded jointly by ForestWorks and the NSW Department of Education and Training.
The resource is designed to assist workers involved in furniture making and upholstery to work out which skills they may be able to apply for RPL in, and provide examples of the types of evidence that they will need to gather to demonstrate that they are competent.
Topics covered
The resource provides users with a step-by-step process on how to apply for RPL, who to contact for more information and the different types of evidence required. It also provides a checklist of the specific skills and knowledge required for 29 units of competency from the Furnishing Industry Training Package (LMF02) in the following areas:
- operating machinery
- assembling
- laminating
- joining
- making traditional upholstery
- making production upholstery
- cutting and machine sewing
For more information on how to obtain copies of the CD-ROM, please contact ForestWorks at: nswforestworks at forestworks.com.au.
