Upholstery competencies

Set out below are a range of competencies relating to practical tasks that you might include in your Upholstery Qualification.

These competencies are most suited to the following qualifications:

  • LMF20802 Certificate II in Upholstery
  • LMF31002 Certificate III in Upholstery
  • LMF31102 Certificate III in Production Upholstery

Note that there are many other qualifications available under the Furnishing Training Package (LMF02) which may include some of these competencies. To see the full list of qualifications available under the LMF02 go to: www.ntis.gov.au

Traditional Upholstery:
LMFUP2002B Fit upholstery components
LMFUP3001B Apply traditional foundations to upholstered furniture
LMFUP3008B Apply finishing techniques to upholstered furniture
Production Upholstery:
LMFUP2003B Apply contemporary foundations to upholstered furniture
LMFUP3003B Fit and apply final cover materials to furniture using decorative techniques
Cutting, machine sewing:
LMFUP2005B Develop cutting plan and cut single layer upholstery fabric
LMFUP2004B Machine sew upholstery final cover materials (basic)
LMFUP3005B Machine sew upholstery final cover materials (complex)
LMFUP3010B Cut, sew and fit skirts to upholstered furniture
LMFUP3011B Cut, sew and fit or fill cushions
