The type of tool I've chosen for this Task is a drill, and I'm going to compare a cordless and a 240 volt drill.
The power source for the AEG cordless drill is a 14.4 volt nickel cadmium battery. The Hitachi uses mains power.
The AEG has a 3/8 inch chuck – that is, it takes a 3/8 inch or 10 mm bit.
It has a maximum torque of 40 newton metres on the high torque setting.
The Hitachi has a 1/2 inch, or 13 mm chuck.
Because it operates on mains power, its list the current it draws, which is 3.5 amperes, and the wattage it uses, which is 790 watts.
The main advantages of the AEG are its light weight, and its ability to be used anywhere, without the need for an extension lead.
But the Hitachi is much more powerful, and is better for heavy applications, like putting in roofing screws, or drilling into steel or masonry.
The main disadvantages of the AEG are that it's not very powerful, and the battery runs out quickly when it's working hard.
One of the main disadvantages of the Hitachi is its need for a power lead, which can get in the way at times.
The other problem is its size and weight, which makes it impossible to use one handed, and awkward in tight places.
