Overview
Most site supervisors and managers are very busy people, but they still like to allow plenty of time to talk to operators about any problems or issues that may have cropped up. This not only helps them to solve problems on the spot, it's also part of the process of monitoring the procedures that are in place, and checking that everyone is carrying them out properly.
In this section, we'll look at the purpose of environmental policies and procedures, and their connection to the laws and regulations imposed by governments. We'll also examine ways of evaluating the effectiveness of your procedures and ensuring that they are achieving the environmental goals set by the company.
It's worth remembering that you and your work colleagues won't be the only people monitoring the effectiveness of your environmental procedures. The local community will also be taking a close interest, particularly in the activities that directly affect their own enjoyment of the forest and surrounding residential areas. We'll talk briefly about the importance of maintaining good relationships with the community.
